9/25/2025 – Sorry for the lack of updates today! That was quite the line of gusty showers and a few thunderbolts. I see that there are some trees down, and Waterford had its power knocked out due to it!

The latest drought monitor was released, and the drought was lowered for Western Loudoun. The furthest north tip of the county is out of the drought.

YES, I am watching the tropics and I am concerned about our friends in the southeastern US! The impacts here are not certain as models are trying to figure things out, but for anyone with beach plans or if you have relatives in the southeast, I am certain they are hearing of the concerns from the weather folks that way!

The weekend is a bit iffy now, and I have some concerns for impacts to the Leesburg Airshow – I hope we do not see low clouds or showers. Timing for the rain that may fall is coming into focus.

The forecast:
Today: Hi 81 🌦️50% Lo 62 🌧️50% – Scattered showers and storms; patchy fog late

Friday: Hi 79 🌤️ Lo 61 ☁️ – Patchy morning fog, then mostly sunny

Saturday: Hi 75 🌦️40% Lo 62 🌧️50% – Cloudy with a chance of showers

Sunday: Hi 76 🌦️30% Lo 61 🌧️30% – Mostly cloudy with isolated showers or thunderstorms possible

Monday: Hi 75 🌦️40% Lo 62 🌧️40% – Mostly cloudy showers possible
Tuesday: Hi 74 🌦️40% Lo 57 🌧️30% – A chance of showers

Wednesday: Hi 70 🌤️ Lo 47 🌙 – Mostly sunny and cooler (potentially breezy!)

Thursday: Hi 65 🌤️ Lo 45 🌙 – Mostly sunny and pleasant (potentially breezy!)

☁️ Cloudy with Scattered Showers Today
Mostly cloudy with a 30–40% chance of showers and storms. That chance may increase tonight.

🌧️ Better Rain Chances Thursday and maybe an isolated strong storm
Showers and scattered thunderstorms are likely on Thursday and Thursday night. Rainfall around a half inch and locally more. There is a marginal risk of a stronger storm.

🌦️ On and Off Showers Through the Weekend
Scattered showers are possible Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with temps in the 70s.

🌀 Next Week is a Question Mark
Tropical systems off the East Coast could influence our weather. Breezy conditions are possible here, but there’s still a lot of uncertainty. Coastal areas could really be hit with strong winds and erosion which will be a headline for news and weather outlets.

⛈️ Storms Firing Up This Afternoon
Storms could pop up around or just before 3 PM today. Some of these could have locally heavy downpours and maybe strong winds.

🌧️ Unsettled Pattern Continues
The rest of the week keeps us in an on-and-off rainy pattern, but the big totals the NOAA NWS Weather Prediction Center had been forecasting may have been overdone. Still, localized 1–2+” amounts are very possible under areas that get heavier storms.

☁️ Eyes on the Leesburg Air Show Saturday
Saturday has some concerns or potential clouds and showers, but things should clear out in time for the show.

🌡️ Warmer & Drier Pattern Returns Next Week
After this week’s stormy stretch, we’re looking at a shift to above-normal temperatures and drier conditions as we head into next week. Some classic early fall weather could be on the way—milder nights and warm, sunny afternoons!

Warm start to the season with highs around 80. Sunny skies develop this afternoon with dry conditions expected.

⛈️ Showers and Storms Tuesday
Highs climb into the low 80s. Showers and thunderstorms expected by afternoon and evening. Some storms may bring decent rainfall, which would help with drought conditions.

🌧️ Unsettled Pattern Wednesday Through Saturday
Daily chances for showers and storms. Highs settle into the mid and upper 70s through the period.

🌤️ Possible Improvement Sunday
Still in the mid to upper 70s with signs of drier weather.

🌧️ Heavy Rain Potential
Weather Prediction Center continues to call for over 3 inches of rain across the area. Strong signal for a soaking event if it all comes together.
