Loudoun County Weather Outlook for day, January 25, 2025

1/25/2025 – 25 years ago a surprise snowstorm came up the east coast. On January 25, 1912, during the Great Cold Wave, temperatures in Lincoln, Loudoun County, Virginia, plummeted to -25°F, marking one of the coldest days in the county's history.

Today was above freezing and melting! Tomorrow and all next week will be the same. I am still watching next weekend and it could still bring some wintry weather.

The following week looks above normal.

The forecast:

Tonight: Lo 26 ☁️ – Increasing clouds with light southwest winds around 7 mph.

Sunday: Hi 43 🌤️ Lo 22 🌙 – Partly sunny with west winds 6 to 13 mph, becoming partly cloudy at night with lighter winds.

Monday: Hi 44 ☀️ Lo 28 🌙 – Sunny and mostly clear with southwest winds increasing to 5 to 13 mph.

Tuesday: Hi 46 🌤️ Lo 29 🌙 – Mostly sunny during the day and partly cloudy overnight.

Wednesday: Hi 54 🌤️ Lo 26 🌙 – Mostly sunny skies, with partly cloudy conditions into the night.

Thursday: Hi 36 🌤️ Lo 22 🌙 – Mostly sunny during the day, followed by a partly cloudy night.

Friday: Hi 39 🌤️ Lo 23 🌙 – Mostly sunny with partly cloudy skies continuing into the evening.

Saturday: Hi 42 🌤️🌧️40% Lo 30 – A chance of rain

1/24/2035 – Not as cold. A few flurries this morning. We will see a dry stretch and some warming conditions with temps above freezing for parts of the area today and everywhere tomorrow. We could see highs in the low 50s mid-next week before we cool off again, but not as cold as we have been! I am watching for storminess next weekend.

1/23/2025 – What a cold start to the day! -3 in my backyard! We will recover well as we get close to 30 today.

The forecast is very non-eventful! We will warm to the 40s by Sunday and we could get above freezing today or tomorrow, but very likely on Saturday! The beginning of the thaw is here!

The next storm of concern could be next weekend, but details are way too early to discuss. We remain dry! I attached the latest drought monitor as we remain in a moderate drought.

1/22/2025 – Cold start to the day! Cold tonight, but maybe we hit freezing tomorrow and Friday, but definitely by Saturday, and we will hit the 40s by Sunday. No real storm systems to talk about at this point so, once the cold air moves on, we will watch for additional storminess possibly later next week.

Today: Hi 18 🌥️ Lo 6 🌙 – Increasing clouds with wind chill values as low as -6. Winds becoming calm in the afternoon.

Thursday: Hi 32 ☀️ Lo 14 🌙 – Mostly sunny and clear with light winds.

Friday: Hi 29 ☀️ Lo 8 🌙 – Sunny and mostly clear with calm conditions.

Saturday: Hi 34 ☀️ Lo 22 ☁️ – Sunny during the day, becoming mostly cloudy overnight.

1/21/2025 – COLD! But it's not too windy today! We could see some snow showers today and intermittent sunshine. The worst of the cold will be tomorrow. Friday or Saturday will be the first day we break the freezing mark in the next few days. We could get some mix of sleet and freezing rain Sunday night before we get some rain. Next week, there will be a bit of warming. I am still watching something possible, but the trend is not for blocking cold. That means it will be harder for us to get snow systems, but they are still possible. It does not look as hot in the long range as I thought.

The forecast:

Today: Hi 19 🌨️30% Lo 4 ☁️30% – COLD ADVISORY TONIGHT. Scattered flurries and snow showers with increasing clouds. Gradual clearing overnight, with wind chills as low as -3.

Wednesday: Hi 17 ☁️ Lo 6 ☁️ – COLD AVISORY EARLY – Increasing clouds with wind chills as low as -7. Mostly cloudy overnight with calm winds.

Thursday: Hi 31 ☀️ Lo 12 🌙 – Mostly sunny and clear.

Friday: Hi 30 ☀️ Lo 10 🌙 – Mostly sunny with a partly cloudy night.

Saturday: Hi 34 ☀️ Lo 23 ☁️ – Mostly sunny during the day, becoming mostly cloudy overnight.
