Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Tuesday, September 24, 2024

9/24/2024 – The forecast has turned to straight gloomy for the next 7 days! We may see some sun Thursday and maybe Sunday and Monday.
The reason for the gloomy weather is that we have a front that will enhance rainfall today into tomorrow. An easterly wind off the Atlantic will keep the moisture over the region. This will allow scattered showers to persist all week. This does now put a damper on some of the weekend activities as this could mean a low ceiling (cloud deck above us).. that could make the Air Show a challenge…. Let's hope things turn better! After the next 24 hours, the chances for rain will remain, but the showers will be scattered, and it does not mean a washout every day.

Between the disturbances and some enhancement from tropical moisture to the south, we could see over an inch of rain in parts of the area over the next week. The grass and trees are really liking this!

The long range shows slightly above temperatures and above average chances of moisture. Things seem to be heading in the direction of continued unsettled conditions.

The forecast:
Today: Hi 65 🌧️70% Lo 63 ⛈️90% – Cloudy with patchy fog and showers likely by afternoon. Showers and possible thunderstorms continue into the night.

Wednesday: Hi 71 🌧️60% Lo 66 🌧️50% – Cloudy with patchy fog, showers likely, and possible thunderstorms after 2pm. Showers and thunderstorms continue overnight.

Thursday: Hi 78 🌥️20% Lo 66 🌥️20% – Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers in the afternoon and overnight.

Friday: Hi 74 🌧️50% Lo 63 🌧️40% – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers throughout the day and night.

Saturday: Hi 72 🌧️30% Lo 59 🌧️30% – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers during the day and night.

Sunday: Hi 71 🌤️30% Lo 56 🌧️30% – Partly sunny with a chance of showers during the day and night.

Monday: Hi 70 🌤️40% Lo 56 🌧️30% – Partly sunny with a chance of showers during the day and into the night.

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Monday, September 23, 2024

9/23/2024 – Dreary day ahead with clouds and some drizzle around and some showers. This will be a damp and somewhat wet week, but the amount of rain we get will be difficult to predict. The higher amounts have backed off some. The impact of the soon-to-be hurricane in the Gulf is something we should watch.

We have showers and storms possible at times, and showers with cloudy skies up to Friday. The weekend is still looking dry for now, and possibly really good.. but the impacts of systems beyond Wednesday is a bit of a challenge.

The forecast
Today: Hi 69 🌧️40% Lo 60 🌧️50% – Patchy drizzle early, scattered showers, and patchy fog in the afternoon. Cloudy and breezy with gusts up to 20 mph.

Tuesday: Hi 67 🌧️50% Lo 62 🌧️70% – Scattered showers and fog early. Cloudy with more showers likely in the evening.

Wednesday: Hi 73 ⛈️60% Lo 64 🌧️50% – Showers likely with possible thunderstorms late morning. Cloudy with evening showers or storms.

Thursday: Hi 79 ☁️ Lo 64 ☁️ – Mostly cloudy throughout the day and night.

Friday: Hi 76 🌤️ Lo 61 🌧️30% – Partly sunny, with a chance of evening showers.

Saturday: Hi 73 🌤️ Lo 58 ☁️ – Partly sunny and turning mostly cloudy overnight.

Sunday: Hi 72 ☀️ Lo 56 🌙 – Mostly sunny and clear.

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Sunday, September 22, 2024

9/22/2024 – Welcome Fall! It will be a dreary day with some drizzle and a high of around 70.
Rain chances start tomorrow afternoon and continue through Thursday. We need the rain, so it is welcome.
We go to partly sunny skies on Friday and Saturday.
 
Just so you know – Next Saturday is the Leesburg Air Show! Always a great time! 🙂
 
The long-range shows slightly above normal temperatures and a slightly above average chance of rain.
 
A large Hurricane is possible in the Gulf of Mexico next week and it *MAY* influence our weather in some way as its remnants come north, but it is way too early to know! I have concerns that this will be bad for the Gulf Coast! 🙁

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Saturday, September 21, 2024

9/21/2024 – Later in the day outlook. We end up pretty dry today, though a random shower is possible. This evening we should see more showers and some thunderstorms. It is possible that a storm could have strong winds as well as small hail. The NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center has us at a Marginal (1 out of 5) risk for severe weather.

If we can get a storm, we could see over a half an inch. Most will see a tenth of an inch to a half an inch.

We look cloudy tomorrow. Showers and some storms become possible every day next week!

The long range could get interesting too if we get some interaction with some tropical moisture.

Today: Hi 80 🌤️🌧️30% Lo 63 ⛈️60% – Partly sunny with scattered showers after 4pm. Showers and thunderstorms likely tonight, patchy fog after midnight, and mostly cloudy.

Sunday: Hi 72 🌧️30% Lo 60 ☁️ – Scattered showers and thunderstorms early, patchy fog in the morning, mostly cloudy throughout the day and night.

Monday: Hi 71 🌧️40% Lo 59 🌧️50% – Scattered showers in the afternoon and evening, mostly cloudy.

Tuesday: Hi 68 🌧️60% Lo 62 🌧️70% – Showers likely during the day and night, cloudy.

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Friday, September 20, 2024

9/20/2024 – WOW did the forecast get wetter than it looked the last few days! A disturbance that will come through tomorrow did not look as robust as it does now on earlier models! We could see a half to a full inch of rain tomorrow afternoon and evening with showers and storms. 
Rain chances have now shown up for Monday night through Thursday! We need the rain, and my concerns yesterday about the drought not being helped by the drier forecast have changed into some good chances of rain!
Sunday looks like it will end up pleasant. 
The long-range forecast looks slightly above average for both temperatures and rainfall.

Today: Hi 83 🌤️ Lo 61 🌙 – Patchy fog early, becoming sunny and calm with light winds.
Saturday: Hi 80 ⛈️60% Lo 63 🌧️60% – Partly sunny with afternoon showers and thunderstorms likely, tapering off overnight with cloudy skies.
Sunday: Hi 71 🌥️🌧️20% Lo 60 ☁️ – Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers in the morning, staying cloudy overnight.
Monday: Hi 70 ☁️ Lo 60 🌧️40% – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers overnight.
Tuesday: Hi 71 🌧️40% Lo 62 🌧️50% – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers during the day and night.
Wednesday: Hi 74 🌧️60% Lo 59 🌧️60% – Showers likely during the day and night with cloudy skies.
