10/3/2024 – Going ahead and posting for Thursday early. After some fog, we should finally see some sun. Friday will be pretty cloudy.

The beautiful weekend holds! Highs in the mid and upper 70s. 

A front comes through Monday and ushers in a true fall-like air mass! Clear skies, temps in the 60s, and nights in the 40s (maybe someone reaches the upper 30s?).

Dry weather will be the pattern, with temps and precipitation looking below average for a while.

The forecast:

Today: Hi 73 🌥️ Lo 59 🌙 – Patchy fog in the morning, becoming mostly sunny with calm winds

Friday: Hi 76 🌥️ Lo 59 🌙 – Patchy fog early, mostly cloudy, then partly cloudy overnight

10/2/2024 – The last day of dreary weather, and some general improvement as the day continues. We did have a lot of humidity and some mist around. That may continue, espcially through midday. A front will cross the area and should help us to break out of the same pattern tomorrow and allow for sunshine, even if we still get some morning fog. There may be a bit more clouds around Friday than I had thought, and the front that comes through may spark a shower (20%). That front clears the skies and provides a stellar weekend with temps in the mid-70s! 

I was INCORRECT yesterday about how things will shape up Sunday Night and Monday. Another front could spark some showers, but it will also usher in cooler air, with highs in the mid and upper 60s by Tuesday and nighttime lows in the 40s!

The long range looks slightly below or near average temperatures and precipitation. 

The forecast:

Today: Hi 70 🌧️40% Lo 55 🌧️20% – Patchy drizzle and scattered showers, with cloudy skies throughout the day. Isolated showers tonight with patchy fog forming late.

Thursday: Hi 73 🌤️ Lo 59 🌙 – Mostly sunny after early morning fog, becoming partly cloudy overnight.

Friday: Hi 75 🌤️🌧️20% Lo 59 🌙 – Partly sunny with a slight chance of showers in the afternoon, remaining partly cloudy overnight.

Saturday: Hi 76 ☀️ Lo 52 🌙 – Sunny and mostly clear.

Sunday: Hi 75 ☀️ Lo 56 🌧️30% – Sunny during the day with a chance of showers and partly cloudy skies at night.

10/1/2024 – And we enter October! Still dreary out there, but we are getting closer to better weather, but maybe not as clear and dry as I hoped next week. 

Today we have more showers. Despite rain coming lighter than expected, I still picked up over a half an inch yesterday out here in Purcellville. Amounts varied through the county. 

After today, we will still have clouds around tomorrow, but the rain will be spotty at best. We look dry on Thursday and Friday, though Friday looks a bit cloudy.

The weekend is still looking fabulous with highs in the low to mid 70s and drier air. 

The pattern is slightly changing the position of another blocking high pressure to our north early next week… and, that could mean a return to easterly winds! That brings moisture off the ocean and clouds. It also looks like it will block the idea of any storm coming up through the area. We will see how things orient, but you will see a return of clouds and shower chances early next week.

Today: Hi 66 🌧️100% Lo 60 🌧️30% – Showers, mainly before 5pm, with patchy fog throughout the day. Scattered showers likely before 11pm, with patchy fog developing late.

Wednesday: Hi 71 🌧️20% Lo 59 ☁️ – Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and patchy fog in the morning.

Thursday: Hi 74 🌤️ Lo 60 🌙 – Mostly sunny with light winds, becoming partly cloudy at night.

Friday: Hi 76 🌤️ Lo 60 🌙 – Partly sunny during the day, with partly cloudy skies overnight.

Saturday: Hi 75 ☀️ Lo 51 🌙 – Sunny and mostly clear.

Sunday: Hi 73 ☀️ Lo 57 🌧️30% – Sunny, turning partly cloudy at night with a chance of showers.

9/30/2024 – Today will be pretty dismal with showers, sprinkles, and some fog. The heavier rain did not make it up in the area as initially expected, which means overall rain amounts through tomorrow night have come down. Unfortunately, areas in Southwest Virginia continue seeing flooding conditions.

This one looks really nice! You could head to the Waterford Fair or the many fall activities kicking off! The weather looks fabulous! The one catch, it will be quite chilly at night! A pumpkin spice and everything nice kind of weekend shaking up! I will list some favorites in upcoming posts! The Leesburg Airshow is always my kickoff to a fun-filled fall of festivities! 🎃

The chances of rain will end, for the most part, tomorrow evening. A few showers could occur on Wednesday, and then we will enter another dry period. 

Next week's system does not look very likely as it will get blocked by a significant high pressure over us. This means beautiful days, but if you can believe it, we must be mindful that parts of the region will remain in a drought despite the rain. 

The forecast:

Today: Hi 66 🌧️80% Lo 59 🌧️80% – Showers with patchy fog throughout the day and night. Expect east winds around 8 mph, with rain continuing into the evening. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.

Tuesday: Hi 65 🌧️60% Lo 59 🌧️30% – Showers are likely, especially in the morning, with patchy fog. It will be mostly cloudy throughout the day, with showers tapering off at night, though a chance of rain returns after 2 a.m.

Wednesday: Hi 73 🌥️30% Lo 55 🌙 – Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of morning showers. Skies clearing overnight.

Thursday: Hi 75 ☀️ Lo 57 🌙 – Sunny and mostly clear.

Friday: Hi 77 🌤️ Lo 57 🌙 – Mostly sunny with partly cloudy skies in the evening.

Saturday: Hi 72 ☀️ Lo 49 🌙 – Sunny and mostly clear.
