Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Tuesday, January 21, 2025

1/21/2025 – COLD! But it's not too windy today! We could see some snow showers today and intermittent sunshine. The worst of the cold will be tomorrow. Friday or Saturday will be the first day we break the freezing mark in the next few days. We could get some mix of sleet and freezing rain Sunday night before we get some rain. Next week, there will be a bit of warming. I am still watching something possible, but the trend is not for blocking cold. That means it will be harder for us to get snow systems, but they are still possible. It does not look as hot in the long range as I thought.

The forecast:
Today: Hi 19 🌨️30% Lo 4 ☁️30% – COLD ADVISORY TONIGHT. Scattered flurries and snow showers with increasing clouds. Gradual clearing overnight, with wind chills as low as -3.

Wednesday: Hi 17 ☁️ Lo 6 ☁️ – COLD AVISORY EARLY – Increasing clouds with wind chills as low as -7. Mostly cloudy overnight with calm winds.

Thursday: Hi 31 ☀️ Lo 12 🌙 – Mostly sunny and clear.

Friday: Hi 30 ☀️ Lo 10 🌙 – Mostly sunny with a partly cloudy night.

Saturday: Hi 34 ☀️ Lo 23 ☁️ – Mostly sunny during the day, becoming mostly cloudy overnight.

Sunday: Hi 42 ☁️ Lo 28 🌨️30% – Mostly cloudy, with a chance of rain and snow overnight.

Monday: Hi 39 🌨️40% Lo 28 🌙 – Partly sunny with a chance of rain and snow.

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Monday, January 20, 2025

1/20/2025 – COLD WEEK AHEAD! A few strong snow showers this morning prompted some Snow Squall warnings because the wind and snow dropped visibilities and whitened the surfaces. These seem to be snowing themselves out, but still a persistent snow shower in northern Loudoun.
We have a Cold Advisory tonight through tomorrow at 10 a.m. The cold will persist but become less cold on Friday. By Saturday, we will be above freezing everywhere!

The long-range is not as cold-looking as now, but I am watching for storminess possibilities before the new month. It may be a mix or rain.

The forecast:
Today: Hi 22 🌨️40% Lo 6 ☁️ – Scattered snow showers in the morning with gusty winds. Increasing clouds and very cold wind chills at night.

Tuesday: Hi 20 🌨️20% Lo 2 🌙 – Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers in the afternoon. Gradual clearing overnight with bitter wind chills.

Wednesday: Hi 17 ☀️ Lo 4 🌙 – Sunny and frigid

Thursday: Hi 28 🌤️ Lo 10 🌙 – Mostly sunny.

Friday: Hi 32 🌤️ Lo 14 🌙 – Mostly sunny and chilly

Saturday: Hi 38 🌤️ Lo 27 ☁️ – Mostly sunny and milder during the day, becoming mostly cloudy at night.

Sunday: Hi 44 ☁️ Lo 28 ☁️ – Mostly cloudy

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Sunday, January 19, 2025

1/19/2025 – OK- Today, we will still see snow, but 2 to 4 inches for most makes the most sense. We will see heavier snow this afternoon. Temperatures will also be falling, so seeing how bad this gets will be something to watch. Some seeing 5 inches (especially in higher elevations) is possible.
The headlines will then turn to the cold! COLD! If you have not winterized your hose bibs or prepared for the cold, it will still be easier today than this week. Temps will be near ZERO on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. We will see wind chills fall below zero tomorrow evening! I think the cold and lingering snow cover will cause some cool challenges Tuesday through Thursday mornings.
Warmer conditions will begin Friday, BUT I am not sleeping on a potential for more snow late this week into the weekend. That is uncertain at this point.
Although we will start a milder pattern, we could see another wintry threat right at the end of the month. After this, a milder stretch seems possible.

The forecast:
Today: Hi 38 ❄️100% Lo 17 ☁️ – Snow, heavy at times, with a total daytime accumulation of 2 to 4 inches, with some seeing 5 inches. Blustery with increasing winds and gusts up to 28 mph, clearing later in the evening.

M.L.King Day: Hi 19 🌤️ Lo 5 🌙 – Mostly sunny and breezy with gusts up to 30 mph. Increasing clouds in the evening with wind chill values as low as -6.

Tuesday: Hi 20 ☁️❄️30% Lo 3 ☁️❄️20% – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow in the afternoon, tapering off late evening.

Wednesday: Hi 16 ☀️ Lo 2 🌙 – Sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night.

Thursday: Hi 26 ☀️ Lo 9 🌙 – Mostly sunny and clear.

Friday: Hi 34 ☀️ Lo 16 🌙 – Mostly sunny and partly cloudy overnight.

Saturday: Hi 38 ☀️Lo 20🌙 – Mostly sunny throughout the day.

1/17/2025 – SNOW IS ON THE WAY! As of now, Sunday could be 2 to 4 with a top end of 6 inches. THIS MAY INCREASE! Then BITTER COLD!
I reviewed the models on YouTube. Snow will start in the morning now and last most of the day!
Multi-day updates are coming through the weekend!
Attached is the US National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington current snow thoughts for Sunday. These could increase!

Bitter cold follows Monday through Wednesday. We could see more snow mid- and late next week! Models still need to work out many details.

The forecast:
Today: Hi 40 ☁️ Lo 28 ☁️ – Cloudy through mid-morning, clearing gradually. Increasing clouds tonight

Saturday: Hi 45 🌧️40% Lo 29 🌨️30% – A chance of rain and snow in the morning, mostly cloudy, with rain or snow possible late at night.

Sunday: Hi 30 🌨️60% Lo 14 🌙 – Snow likely under cloudy skies, with a slight chance of lingering snow before clearing overnight.

M.L.King Day: Hi 18 ☀️ Lo 4 🌙 – Cold and windy! Frigid at night!

Tuesday: Hi 19 🌥️ Lo 2 ☁️ – Cold and windy! Frigid at night!

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Thursday, January 16, 2025

1/16/2025 – A cold but not too bad day, with some snow showers. The weekend could end with some snow as we head into MLK Day on Monday. Temperatures will plummet and wind chills will be below zero by Monday Evening!
Short term—Do look for snow showers today. We could have some this evening, which may be a bit of a travel nuisance if they occur after sunset. Just keep in mind the possibility.
We are warmer tomorrow and Saturday, when we may see mixed rain/sleet/snow showers or just rain.

Sunday could bring a period of snow in the evening. How much is being monitored, but we will probably see some snow.
Temps plummet on Monday, and it will be very cold through Wednesday. We will watch for a potential system sometime between Tuesday and Friday that could bring wintry weather. There are a lot of unknowns! 🙂 I did a long overview of all this on YouTube if you want to see what models are showing. I will do a model breakdown later today on here as well!

Friday: Hi 39 ☀️ Lo 28 ☁️ – Sunny skies followed by increasing clouds overnight.

Saturday: Hi 44 🌧️30% Lo 28 ☁️ – A chance of rain and snow early, transitioning to rain under mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday: Hi 34 🌨️40% Lo 14 🌨️ – A chance of snow

M.L.King Day: Hi 18 ☀️ Lo 4 🌙 – Sunny and cold. Wind chills will go below zero overnight.
