10/11/2024 – I am still amazed at last night's light show! It was probably a once-in-a-lifetime experience, though I think last May, many (outside of our area) also had a treat with a storm! I had never seen anything like it! Thank you all for sharing the photos. What a special night! I do not see a repeat happening tonight, but we will have to watch the forecast. The storm is still pretty strong right now. 

The weather is easy! It will be in the upper 60s today and the 70s all weekend. A shower is possible Sunday afternoon and evening, and then even cooler air will come in, with several days staying in the 50s after the low 60s on Monday. 

Though we look dry, the longer range shows temps trending above normal after next week.  

The forecast:

Today: Hi 69 ☀️ Lo 46 🌙 – Sunny with calm winds, becoming west 5 to 7 mph

Saturday: Hi 76 ☀️ Lo 51 🌙 – Sunny with light west winds

Sunday: Hi 78 ☀️ 🌦️20% Lo 55 🌧️30% – Sunny with a slight chance of showers in the afternoon; mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening

Tuesday: Hi 56 ☀️ Lo 39 🌙 – Sunny and mostly clear

🌙10/10/2024 – It's another nice day, but a bit cool, as highs will only be in the low 60s. The sunshine will continue through the weekend, with temps climbing into the mid-70s. Then, another front will come through overnight Sunday and usher in some cool fall temperatures, with highs in the 50s for a few days. A few showers may accompany that front. 

After a cooldown next week, the models do hint at temperatures rebounding back to near or even slightly above normal. Dry conditions will continue!

10/9/2024 – Started off quite chilly this morning! We will warm to around 70 today with breezy gusts up to 20mph. Cooler tomorrow with highs in the low 60s. Some folks MAY see frost tomorrow night in the sheltered valley areas as temps, especially in western Loudoun, drop to the mid and upper 30s to around 40 in the eastern areas. We rebound a bit on Friday and especially for the weekend as highs go back to the 70s.. 

BUT – Next week, we could see some spots flirt with freezing temps as a very cold pool of air is poised to make its way through the area. By Tuesday, we could see high temps only in the 50s, and widespread 30s could be possible Tuesday night or especially Wednesday night next week! We will see just how cold it gets because sometimes models back off on cold shots when they approach! 

Of course, I am concerned for Florida. Milton grew in size over the last 24 hours and now is a much larger hurricane. This morning, as of this writing, he is still at 155 mph winds, but that does reflect some slight weakening.. As he weakens, the wind field does grow. People in Florida need to leave now or be confident they are well inland and in very sturdy homes. The coast from Tampa and southward, especially in Sarasota and to Cape Coral, must be off the coast! Praying for rapid weakening today! 

The long-range continues to look cooler than normal and very dry!

Friday: Hi 67 ☀️ Lo 47 🌙 – Sunny with light northwest winds, staying clear overnight.

Saturday: Hi 75 ☀️ Lo 51 🌙 – Sunny and mostly clear.

Sunday: Hi 77 🌤️ Lo 51 🌙 – Mostly sunny, becoming partly cloudy at night.

Monday: Hi 61 🌤️ Lo 42 🌙 – Mostly sunny with partly cloudy skies overnight.
