Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Friday, January 3, 2025

1/3/3024 – Snow today! Significant Snow Sunday Night and Monday!
Today we should see some mixed rain/snow showers change to a potential burst of snow that could whiten the ground. Winds will increase later today! That will set up a cold weekend. Snow should start late Sunday evening and become heavy overnight!

Preliminary outlook would be 4 to 8 inches possible with some seeing as much as 10+ inches if model trends continue! Mixing is still possible so that would impact snow totals!

The forecast:
Today: Hi 40 🌧️🌨️❄️80% Lo 23 🌨️🌙30% – Rain showers mixing with and changing to snow after 2pm, becoming partly cloudy by evening. Gusty winds throughout the day and night.

Saturday: Hi 30 🌤️ Lo 19 🌙 – Mostly sunny and blustery during the day, with mostly clear skies at night.

Sunday: Hi 33 🌤️ Lo 24 ❄️100% – Mostly sunny early, with snow, potentially heavy at times, overnight.

Monday: Hi 30 ❄️90% Lo 20 ❄️🌙30% – Snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet early, transitioning to all snow, then mostly cloudy by night.

Tuesday: Hi 30 ☀️ Lo 17 🌙 – Sunny and Cold!

Wednesday: Hi 29 🌤️ Lo 14 🌙 – Sunny and Cold

Thursday: Hi 25 🌤️ Lo 10 🌙 – Sunny and Cold

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Thursday, January 2, 2025

1/2/2025 – SNOW IS ON THE WAY! How much? TBD!
First, it will be breezy and cold today with highs around 40.
Tomorrow, rain and snow showers are likely in the afternoon. We may get enough heavy snow for a brief period to whiten the ground a bit!
Windy and blustery Saturday. Cold Sunday.
AS OF NOW, SNOW is showing it would come late in the evening, but some snow showers are possible later in the afternoon. The timing is really yet to be determined!

HOW MUCH SNOW? Based on the models, now, this looks like at least a 3-inch event with the potential for some hitting 8 inches if we maximize on the snow. I DO WONDER if we start seeing sleet mix in on the event because of the way the low sets up. So, that is the model output at this point and these fine-tuning details will help be coming!

After we get the snow, it looks like a cold week. There is also another threat of a snow system the following weekend, but details are way off at this point!

Today: Hi 39 🌤️ Lo 26 ☁️ – Mostly sunny and breezy, with increasing clouds at night.

Friday: Hi 41 🌤️🌧️🌨️60% Lo 22 🌙 – Partly sunny with rain and snow showers likely in the afternoon. Little to no snow accumulation is expected.

Saturday: Hi 30 🌤️ Lo 18 🌙 – Mostly sunny and blustery.

Sunday: Hi 34 🌤️❄️30% Lo 24 ❄️80% – Mostly sunny with a chance of snow in the afternoon. Snow likely at night.

Monday: Hi 31 ❄️70% Lo 20☁️ Snow is likely in the morning and will taper off in the afternoon.

Tuesday: Hi 32 🌤️ Lo 17 🌙 – Mostly sunny and cold.

Wednesday: Hi 29 🌤️ Lo 13 🌙 – Mostly sunny and cold.

1/1/2025 – HAPPY NEW YEAR! WIND🍃, 🌬️COLD, AND — ❄️SNOW❄️ all her or coming!! A windy one at that! We have an Appropriate wind Advisory today with highs in the Low 40s.
Colder tomorrow with a high near 40 and not as windy.
Some snow showers possible Friday! Blustery and cold Saturday. Cold Sunday!
Confidence continues to rise for measurable Snow Monday!❄️
Cold conditions persist next week, and we may have a very cold stretch by the following weekend!

New Year's Day: Hi 45 🌤️ Lo 29 🌙 – Mostly sunny and breezy with strong northwest gusts, becoming mostly clear and calmer overnight.

Thursday: Hi 39 🌤️ Lo 26 🌙 – Mostly sunny and breezy, but not as windy!

Friday: Hi 39 🌥️❄️30% Lo 23 🌙 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow showers in the afternoon, clearing overnight.

Saturday: Hi 30 🌤️ Lo 19 🌙 – Mostly sunny and blustery,

12/31/2024 – Made it to 6000 followers! THANK YOU ALL!
High winds.. Cold & SNOW – Just how much?

A few more showers before 7pm and quite mild, but nothing significant so the evening looks pretty good, though temps will fall some.

Very windy tomorrow with a Wind Advisory for winds gusting to 50 mph.

We could see some light snow around on Friday and it MAY be enough to whiten the ground a little bit.

Cold and blustery Saturday and a little less Windy Sunday.

THEN THE SNOW?! How much? The models are struggling on location, strength, timing of this system. What I do know:
* When forecasts are complicated, keep expectations LOW!
* The heaviest snow (or all snow) could be SOUTH of our back yards
* This could be a non-event, light, or moderate event!

THEN THE SUPER COLD!
We could see temps below freezing for days and nighttime lows close to 0 if the true Arctic Air comes down!

The cold next week will not be something to take lightly!

12/30/2024 – Super Nice Day ahead! Some showers tomorrow, but not a washout. Cold is coming! Snow? MAYBE in a week or so!
We will be Mild and nice and a bit breezy today. Mild tomorrow with rain showers tomorrow afternoon into the evening.

Breezy Wednesday and a progression to colder and breezy next weekend!
