Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Monday, May 5, 2025

5/5/2025 – Happy Cinco de Mayo! We do have a Slight Risk for Severe storms today!
As a joke, my dad one time told my mom that this was the day that people flushed overtaxed Mayonnaise down the Sink, much like the Boston Tea Party!! LOL! I mean no disrespect for those celebrating the day!

The severe risk today will be both severe winds and hail.

We stay unsettled tomorrow and then Thursday and a little bit on Friday, but the weekend is looking really nice!

The forecast:
Today: Hi 73 ⛈️90% Lo 57 🌧️80% – Showers and thunderstorms likely through the afternoon, patchy fog midday, with rain continuing into the night and some fog developing late

Tuesday: Hi 71 🌦️70% Lo 53 🌧️60% – Partly sunny with patchy morning fog, scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, becoming mostly cloudy with rain likely in the evening

Wednesday: Hi 73 🌦️20% Lo 53 🌙 – Mostly sunny with a slight chance of a shower, becoming partly cloudy overnight

Thursday: Hi 72 🌦️50% Lo 48 🌧️40% – Partly sunny with a chance of afternoon storms, evening showers tapering off overnight

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Saturday, May 3, 2025

5/3/2025 – We do have a slight risk for severe storms this evening! (as well as tomorrow) – Rain will likely hold off until this evening.
The primary risk for severe will be winds but hail is also possible, and a very isolated tornado cannot be ruled out! This is almost exactly the same outlook for us tomorrow! So, stay weather aware. I will do my best to help keep you aware, but use weather radios and local outlets as the authoritative source for warnings.

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Friday, May 2, 2025

5/2/2025 – Warm and humid day with a chance of a shower or storm. A better chance or rain tomorrow and Sunday. Exact rain amounts have been hard to pin down and have shown a general decrease from model runs just a few days ago. Unsettled weather could stick around through the middle of next week.
The newest long range outlooks do show a potential for a wetter pattern over the month and even into the next 3 months. This could mean the drought will not be as bad as it is currently, but the drought is expected to persist. I suspect full dryness issues may not be relieved until the fall. That seems far off, but it does not mean we will have a bad summer, but that streams and ground water levels may stay low. This is speculation though. I attached the monthly and seasonal outlook showing that drought looks like it will improve even though it persists.

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Thursday, May 1, 2025

5/1/2025 – Welcome to May! Loudounweather.com was restored overnight! Another nice day with only a late day chance of a shower or maybe a storm. The forecast over the next week will be very difficult to get right as we will have times of rain and then just cloudy times with showers possible. The forecast looks wetter than it may be at any one time, but there are times it will be more likely! In general, over the next 7 days we could see 2 to 3 inches of rain! We could see more rain than this, but that has not been the trend for a long while. This is quite the unique setup, so I hope it produces a good soaking rain.
You will see in the attached that the drought is now severe for all Loudoun County.

4/26/2025 – Some good rains fell after all! Most saw over a half inch of rain! Rain will wind down the rest of the day. Cooler tonight with winds making it feel cold in the morning! We warm early next week before some more unsettled weather. Next weekend could usher in a cool shot for several days.
