Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Saturday, December 21, 2024

12/21/2024 – Welcome Astronomical Winter with the Solstice! YES, daylight starts increasing from now on! It will be a cold day with some flurries around this morning and maybe a few Christmas showers later. COLD and blustery day! Cold tonight and tomorrow! Coldest night of the season expected tomorrow nights with temps down close to 10 degrees! I bet some see single digits! 🥶🥶🥶

We will have a slow warming trend, but the cold air damming this week is relentless. The original chance of rain/snow Wednesday has disappeared from the models. I do not expect a super sunny week and we will probably see some showers later in the week.

SPECULATION – There is growing support for a colder pattern as we enter January on the models. It may take a few days for the colder air to arrive. There are even hints to the potential of wintry weather! BUT THIS IS ALL SPECULATION!

The forecast:

Today: Hi 34 🌨️20% Lo 19 🌙 – Scattered flurries and isolated snow showers early, becoming partly sunny and breezy with strong wind gusts, then partly cloudy overnight.

Sunday: Hi 30 ☀️ Lo 13 🌙 – Sunny and calm during the day, mostly clear and colder at night.

Monday: Hi 33 ☀️ Lo 26 ☁️ – Sunny with light winds, becoming cloudy overnight.

Tuesday: Hi 43 ☁️ Lo 28 ☁️ – Mostly cloudy throughout the day and night.

Christmas Day: Hi 40 🌤️ Lo 29 ☁️ – Partly sunny during the day, turning mostly cloudy overnight.

Thursday: Hi 42 🌤️ Lo 32 ☁️ – Partly sunny skies transitioning to mostly cloudy by night.

Friday: Hi 44 🌤️🌧️30% Lo 33 ☁️ – Partly sunny with a chance of rain during the day.

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Friday, December 20, 2024

12/20/2024 – Some snow showers and snow/rain mixed today. VERY COLD and Windy tonight through tomorrow.

Very cold Sunday and Sunday night.

Getting slightly milder for Christmas but some showers (maybe mixed with snow) Wednesday through Thursday.

The long range shows some warming and then unsettled weather as we start January and then potentially colder.

The forecast:

Today: Hi 39 🌨️50% Lo 29 🌨️30% – Cloudy with a mix of snow and rain. Mostly cloudy tonight with windy conditions.

Saturday: Hi 33 🌤️ Lo 19 🌙 – Mostly sunny with breezy conditions and cold

Sunday: Hi 29 ☀️ Lo 14 🌙 – Sunny and cold!

Monday: Hi 33 ☀️ Lo 24 ☁️ – Sunny during and cold!

Tuesday: Hi 42 🌥️ Lo 30 ☁️ – Mostly cloudy but a bit warmer.

Christmas Day: Hi 42 🌦️30% Lo 31 🌧️30% – Mostly cloudy with rain possible (maybe mixing with snow)

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Thursday, December 19, 2024

12/19/2024 – It will be a sunny and cool typical December day with highs in the low 40s and some breezy conditions. Tomorrow, an Arctic front and disturbance will come through and bring down temperatures as well as cause some rain and snow showers. Highs will be in the low 40s tomorrow, but the cold wind and temps will feel truly wintry by Saturday. The coldest air will be on Sunday and Sunday night. By Christmas, we may have a few rain and even snow showers mixed with cool and cloudy conditions as the colder air will be dammed up against the mountains most of the week.

The long-range looks milder and potentially unsettled as we head towards the New Year.

The forecast:

Today: Hi 43 🌤️ Lo 29 ☁️ – Mostly sunny with light north winds and gusts up to 18 mph, becoming mostly cloudy and calm tonight.

Friday: Hi 41 🌨️30% Lo 30 🌨️30% – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow and rain showers

Saturday: Hi 35 🌤️ Lo 20 🌙 – Mostly sunny, breezy, and cold with northwest winds gusting up to 28 mph

Sunday: Hi 30 ☀️ Lo 14 🌙 – 🥶Sunny and cold.

Monday: Hi 31 ☀️ Lo 21 ☁️ – 🥶 Sunny and cold. Some clouds at night.

Tuesday: Hi 38 ☁️ Lo 30 🌨️30% – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow at night.

Loudoun County Weather Outlook for Wednesday, December 18, 2024

12/18/2024 – Rain is on the way today, but it will not be that heavy. We will be somewhat cooler tomorrow with some breezy conditions.

On Friday, the arctic front will arrive and bring showers of rain and then snow later in the day. I do not expect much from it.

IT'S A VERY COLD weekend ahead with authentic Arctic Air. Windy and cold air will arrive Friday night and persist Saturday. Sunday through Tuesday will be cold and nighttime lows on Sunday night may get down to single digits.

The long-range shows things warming up. We still may see some precipitation on Christmas Day, and it could be a mix, but I am not convinced of it!

The Forecast:

Today: Hi 48 🌧️80% Lo 35 🌧️60% – Rain, mainly after 11am, with patchy fog in the afternoon. Gradual clearing overnight, becoming windy with gusts up to 22 mph.

Thursday: Hi 42 ☀️ Lo 28 ☁️ – Sunny during the day, becoming mostly cloudy and calm at night.

Friday: Hi 40 🌧️30% Lo 28 🌧️🌨️30% – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain in the afternoon. Rain and snow possible in the evening.

Saturday: Hi 35 🌤️ Lo 20 🌙 – Mostly sunny during the day, partly cloudy overnight.

Sunday: Hi 29 ☀️ Lo 14 🌙 – Sunny and clear.

Monday: Hi 31 ☀️ Lo 20 ☁️ – Sunny during the day, becoming mostly cloudy at night.

Tuesday: Hi 39 🌤️ Lo 23 🌙 – Mostly sunny.
